A Note About Lye
Sodium hydroxide, commonly known as lye, is necessary to make real soap. During the soapmaking process, it reacts with the oils through a process called saponification, transforming them into soap and glycerin. No lye remains in the finished, properly cured bar.
Because every bar is cut and poured by hand, slight variations in color, design, and weight are natural and part of what makes each one unique.
